Barry Zito is joining the San Francisco Giants. The left-hander reached a preliminary agreement with the club on a US$126 million, seven-year contract, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press. The deal was agreed to late Wednesday night. Zito must pass a physical for the contract to be finalized. The contract includes an $18 million option for 2014 that could increase the value to $144 million. Zito was the best pitcher still available on the free-agent market
